Some information about me... |
|
My name is Nina, I was born on July 15, 1973 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
I'm a veterinarian (DVM, PhD in microbiology) working in research as an
assistant professor at a veterinary school.
disguised as a scientist
My hobbies include orchids, bodyart, World of Warcraft, cats, good food, reading,
movies, music... I do hatha yoga, and I run... in truth though, I am an
extreme procrastinator sports-wise, but luckily I'm favored by genetics (fast metabolism).
I'm pretty easy to get along with (unless you can't handle outspokenness), and I'm very lucky to have met a
bunch of wonderful people over the internet. It really is a great way
of meeting interesting people. Of course, "interesting" can be interpreted in a number of ways...
I'm also on Facebook, Myspace, LinkedIn, Stayfriends, and MeinVZ, in case you want to stalk me properly.

What interesting plants. Rather dull looking when they're all leaves, nothing short of spectacular when in bloom... The name derives from the Greek word "orchis" for testicle. The bulbs of some European orchids resemble testicles, and they were once used as aphrodisiacs. I have about 150 plants, most on windowsills, some on a tray under a HQI light. Yes, my place is very green/colorful %-) Orchids are easier to care for than you might think. You don't have to have a greenhouse, many orchids will grow happily on your windowsill, too. Enjoy the pictures in the gallery :- ). |
Kitchen hanky code?
fooooooooooooooooooood!
I love cooking. That's probably because I don't have to do it every
day, but I really love devastating the kitchen on weekends (Steffen
insists on being mentioned as the person who cleans up afterwards). I
have a pretty nice collection of cookbooks- I guess you could say I
collect them. No, that's not right. I'm obsessed with them. I bring home at least one or two from every vacation or business trip I make.

Traveling
is definitely somthing that I don't do enough. These days, nearly all
my traveling is done on business trips, and a lot of these are to the
US- which of course has the advantage that I can meet a lot of the
friends I've made on the internet!
Pictures of my travels are in the photo gallery.

I started early! If you think it's only for rebellious teenagers, you couldn't be more wrong! I have tattoos and piercings. There are pictures of my bodyart in the gallery, but access is restricted because I prefer making them accessible only to people I know, or know of. Please

me to request access, which I will grant at my discretion. I've been involved in online communities dealing with bodyart for over a decade now. It's fascinating how some misconceptions exist even among those colleagues of mine who are in the primate field ;-), but it seems to be getting better. Sites like INKED Inc. certainly do their part in dispelling some of the myths that exist among the non-modified. I do my best to educate those around me -when asked-, and have contributed extensively to the de.rec.bodyart FAQ as well as various other online resources. |
